The Tairona Heritage Trust came into existence following the making of the first Kogi film From The Heart of the World. It was set up by Alan Ereira working in association with Gonawindua Tairona, the organization in the Sierra which represents all the descendants of the Tairona. The Trust began to raise money to purchase ancient territories damaged by industrialization and the drugs trade so they could be returned to the indigenous people who would be able to restore the land back to full health.

The Tairona Heritage Trust is a small UK Charity (Reg. Charity No.1196707) founded after the making of the first Kogi film. The Trust works to help protect their indigenous communities and culture in the Sierra Nevada, Colombia. The mission of the Trust is to magnify the Kogis’ voice, to help them defend their culture and its territorial integrity, and to learn from them how to better protect the planet we all share. The Kogi believe they can help us to keep dangerous and destructive forces in check.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
‘It is not possible to repair the damage the Younger brothers have done to sacred sites. Now we see rivers drying out, avalanches, land slips, drought, unfamiliar weather and all this is being brought about by Younger Brothers.’
The Kogi message is important for us all. They consider themselves to be the guardians of the earth and are worried by our attempts to destroy it. They want their voice and knowledge to be heard around the world and for us to take action to protect the planet that we all share.
The Kogi need your help to do this. Please follow the link and make a Donation: https://www.taironatrust.org/how-to-help/donate
