A talented emerging artist at the age of 17, is currently pursuing his Art A-level studies alongside business courses at a Jewish College. His artistic journey is fuelled by the profound concepts of identity and belonging, which are a result of his Spanish-Jewish heritage from his father and his strong Colombian roots from his mother. Growing up in the culturally diverse environment of the UK, Carlos finds both controversy and opportunity within these three interconnected cultures.
Carlos embraces and appreciates the multifaceted influences of the cultures that shape his identity. He acknowledges that his Latin heritage is the wellspring from which his love for dancing and deep affinity for Colombian cuisine flow. The power of music is undeniable in his life, as it effortlessly captivates him and compels his body to sway, even when he's engrossed in playing the saxophone. These expressions of rhythm and flavour truly encapsulate the very essence of his Latin roots.
Carlos's artistic approach revolves around immersing himself in the study of artworks that inspire him, diligently learning their techniques, and then employing that knowledge to create his own unique pieces. Although he humbly acknowledges that he is still in the early stages of his artistic journey, Carlos describes himself as a novice in the art industry.
However, he vividly recalls the day his initial passion for art was ignited when he visited Camden Town for the first time with his mother and brother. The vibrant and captivating graffiti adorning the walls left him mesmerised, forever opening his eyes to the beauty of street art. Since then, Carlos has found inspiration in graffiti wherever he goes. Ultimately, his aspiration is to become a street artist, drawing inspiration from established figures like Joaquin Roman, Matt Dean, and the contemporary Colombian artist Camilo Fidel Lopez.
